Training für die WorldSkills
These days there is something special to be admired in our production hall. In the week from 7 – 11 August, three young French cabinetmakers are practicing their craftsmanship at Deutsche Werkstätten for the world championships, the so-called WorldSkills.
For this reason we have set up an extra area for Romain Kauffmann (Strasbourg), Martin Retif (Nantes) and Robin Françoise (Revel) where they can train under competitive conditions. The French nominees are being coached by Pierre Bonifait, who took part in the WorldSkills in 2007 and has been working at Deutsche Werkstätten for two years now. He will be pushing the three athletes to top performances this week.
It is a stress test for the young joiners because they have to show what they can do under time pressure to curious spectators in an unknown environment. And for us it is a nice change, something different in the workplace. Above all, our trainees have been amazed to see how quickly and precisely the basic techniques of this craft can be carried out during intensive training. And not only the trainees, also many of the experienced employees regularly pass by to observe the controlled-hectic bustle with a critical and at the same time respectful eye.
