Born of this collaboration is a place to linger in Zschopau which, among other things, points out that the roots of generators of big ideas are often anchored in small towns and rural areas. The group decided on a memorial that shows a replica of one of the first machine-made chairs from 1906.

Deutsche Werkstätten assumed responsibility for financing and preparing the data required for the bronze casting. The high-quality bronze sculpture stands in front of the house where Karl Schmidt was born, Ludwig-Würkert-Straße 7, and will in future be part of the Zschopau guided tours.
